Your bridal trial is a relaxed, unhurried part of the wedding experience, where we bring your vision to life and create a look that feels beautifully you.

A combined hair and makeup trial lasts around 3 hours, allowing time to discuss your dress, accessories, flowers, colour palette, venue and the overall feel of your day.

We’ll explore your usual style, the features you love to enhance and how you want to feel on your wedding morning. Bring a Pinterest board, inspiration images or simply a few ideas, and together we’ll shape your chosen look, refining every detail until it feels effortless and elegant.

Holly specialises in natural bridal makeup and soft glam, enhancing rather than masking your natural beauty. The result is timeless and polished, photographs beautifully and is designed to feel comfortable and last throughout your wedding day.

Following your trial, you’ll receive guidance on preparing your hair and skin, including when to wash your hair, products to use or avoid, timing for cuts and colour, and treatments such as brow threading or waxing.

For additional support, Holly can create a personalised pre-wedding skincare and haircare plan tailored to you. This should be discussed by email or at your trial, allowing plenty of time to introduce any recommended products or treatments before the wedding.

On the Day

Your wedding morning should feel calm, relaxed and beautifully considered. Holly will travel to your chosen venue or getting-ready location and recreate the bridal hair and makeup look perfected at your trial.

With extensive experience at some of Kent’s most beautiful wedding venues, including The Old Kent Barn, Hever Castle, The Harty Estate, Winters Barn, Hayne House and The Crescent Turner, Holly understands the importance of a morning that feels organised, unhurried and enjoyable.

A personalised hair and makeup schedule is prepared in advance so everyone in your bridal party knows exactly when they are needed, allowing the morning to flow smoothly. For larger bridal parties, additional experienced artists can be arranged where required.

Holly remains with you until the final moments for any last-minute hair and makeup touch-ups before the ceremony. Every bridal party also receives touch-up kits to keep makeup looking fresh and beautifully finished throughout the day.

Holly is always happy to help with those final details too, whether securing your veil, helping with jewellery or assisting you into your bridal gown.

Makeup Lessons

Holly offers bespoke makeup lessons tailored to your requirements, perfect for brides getting married abroad or anyone wanting to learn professional makeup techniques in Kent.

Lessons take place at Holly's studio in Whitstable, Kent. Feel free to come alone or bring a friend, and you'll learn how to:

In 2016 Holly trained as a professional Ultimate Lash Technician with Nouveau. Loving all things hair and make-up, Holly felt this would be a great complementary treatment to offer clients in Whitstable, Canterbury, and across Kent, ensuring their beautiful wedding day lashes lasted throughout their honeymoon.

Extend is the ultimate Nouveau Lashes experience and allows you to have the lashes you've always dreamed of. Extend is a state-of-the-art semi-permanent lash extension treatment that gives you longer, thicker, very natural-looking lashes.

Using Nouveau's unique weight-for-weight guidance, individual lashes are applied one at a time onto the natural eyelash for a flawless finish without overloading the natural lashes or causing damage. Nouveau Lashes: Express

The Express lash treatment range allows you to create longer, fuller, volumised lashes in just a matter of moments. The Express treatment is bespoke to each individual client. Whether you're looking for a natural enhancement, classic volume, or full evening glamour, you can create a look tailored to you and your lifestyle. The Express lashes are semi-permanent but must be removed after 10 days to 2 weeks.

Transparent pricing for wedding and special occasion hair and makeup services throughout Kent, including Whitstable, Canterbury, Faversham, Herne Bay, Margate, and surrounding areas.

All make-up services include high-definition airbrushing, individual lashes, and a lip touch-up pot in your chosen colour at no extra cost.

Individual lashes are temporary and will last for the duration of the day. If you prefer strip lashes, Holly is happy to apply them while doing your make-up, but you will need to provide the strip lashes yourself.

Holly is based in Whitstable, Kent, and is available to travel to wedding venues and locations throughout Kent and surrounding counties. Popular areas include Canterbury, Faversham, Herne Bay, Margate, Ramsgate, Broadstairs, Dover, Folkestone, and Ashford. Travel is charged at 70p per mile one way. Any car parking, tolls, or congestion charges will also apply and be added to the final balance.

If you would like to make a booking, please contact Holly directly so she can check if your date is available. A deposit is required to secure any date in Holly's diary; this will be deducted from the final invoice. If needed, trials can be arranged at a mutually convenient time at Holly's Whitstable studio or your preferred location across Kent.

The trial balance is payable one week prior to the trial date or can be paid in cash at the trial. The wedding day balance must be paid in full four weeks before the wedding date.

In the event of a cancellation, all deposit booking fees and trial fees are non-refundable. Any cancellations must be made at least six weeks before the wedding, or the full balance will still be payable.

Do I need to have a trial?

As the bride, having a trial is an important part of your wedding preparations. It gives you peace of mind that you're completely happy with your look and helps reduce any stress on the day. It also allows you to test the longevity of the make-up and whether you might need a powder top-up to reduce shine. It's not essential for the bridal party to have a trial, but it's helpful if they attend yours to discuss their preferences. If that's not possible, a photo and a quick discussion will suffice. That said, if you're unable to have a trial due to time constraints or because you're travelling from abroad or another part of the UK, Holly is happy to proceed with just the wedding day hair and make-up.

How long does a trial take?

There is no set time limit, but combined bridal hair and makeup trials usually last around 3 hours.

When and where do trials take place?

Trials can be arranged for any time before the wedding. Holly's diary fills up quickly, so it's best to book early if you have preferred dates and times. Trials can take place at your home, a friend or family member's home, or in Holly's fully equipped hair and make-up studio in Whitstable. You are welcome to bring friends or family members along.

Will the make-up last all day?

Yes, although you will need to reapply your lipstick every couple of hours. Holly will provide enough of your chosen shade for top-ups. If there are tears, remember to dab rather than wipe! Holly always uses waterproof mascara for weddings—just in case.

Do you accept cheques?

Yes, cheques, cash, and bank transfers are all accepted. Cheques must be paid at least one month before the trial or wedding to allow time for them to clear.

Most brides opt for a natural look, which airbrush make-up is perfect for, offering flawless coverage without feeling heavy. Even with a natural look, Holly will add subtle definition to your features so everything photographs beautifully. Every bride deserves to look and feel truly beautiful.

I can't decide how I want my wedding hair and/or make-up - can you help?

Start by browsing bridal magazines and online images for inspiration, and think about the cut and style of your dress. For example, a princess-style gown suits textured up-dos or flowing curls, while a gown with clean lines and intricate beading pairs well with sleek styles like a chignon or side bun. Consider your comfort—do you normally wear your hair up or down? A half-up, half-down style may be a good compromise. Also consider your face shape: width at the sides can balance a long face, while height adds definition to a round face.

I don't have my veil and/or tiara for the trial - can you help?

Holly has a small selection of tiaras, veils, and hair accessories available if yours aren't ready or haven't been chosen yet. This is particularly helpful if you're still deciding, as you can see how different options complement your chosen hair and make-up style. If you'd like to use any of Holly's accessories during the trial, please mention this when booking so she can bring them along.

Can you help lace my bridal gown?

Yes—Holly has years of experience from working part-time in her family's bridal boutique and is confident lacing both bridal and bridesmaid gowns. If you'd like help on the day, just ask. Please note this is a chargeable service and enough time should be allowed in the schedule. Let Holly know in advance if you'd like to include this.
